Regards, Sunil Edit: Oct Hi all, After working for nearly 2 weeks with a Microsoft Tech Support guy, I have finally managed to get it to activate! The problem was due to conflicting access permissions on the system both, to some system folders on the C drive as well as to some keys in the registry. And that's it! It installed and activated with no problems at all. I say "luckily" because we had tried nearly everything and nothing seemed to work.

But whatever was causing the block went away with my old hard disk and the installation worked smoothly on my freshly re-installed Windows. Of course, I now have to reinstall another programs on my machine. But, that's another story altogether. Once again, thanks to those of you who tried to help.
